Non-Discrimination Policy

In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, decisions at the Lions of Michigan Service Foundation will be based on merit, qualifications and abilities.  The Lions of Michigan Service Foundation does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability (including loss of vision and hearing).

The Lions of Michigan Service Foundation will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities unless doing so would result in an undue hardship.  This policy governs all aspects of operation.

Employees can raise concerns and make reports without fear of reprisal.  Anyone found to be engaging in unlawful discrimination will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Diversity and Inclusion Policy

The Lions of Michigan Foundation recognizes that our business success is a reflection of the quality and skill of our people and that diversity management benefits individuals, our company as a whole and our clients and customers.  Managing diversity makes us more creative, flexible, productive and competitive.

We recognize that our board members, staff and volunteers each bring their own unique capabilities, experiences and characteristics to our organization and work, and we believe in treating all people with respect and dignity.  We strive to create and foster a supportive and understanding environment in which all individuals realize their maximum potential, regardless of their differences.  We value diversity at all levels of the organization and in all that we do.

We recognize that diversity encompasses differences in ethnicity, gender, language, age, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, physical and mental ability (including loss of vision and hearing), thinking styles, experience and education.  We believe that the wide array of perspectives that results from such diversity promotes innovation and long-term success.

We recognize that there are distinct demographic groups that have long been disadvantaged and that racism, ageism, sexism and other forms of discrimination are problems both for our organization and society as a whole.  We strive to raise awareness about diversity issues, and we are committed to challenging cultural stereotypes both within and outside our organization.

The Lions of Michigan Foundation is committed to fostering and providing an environment for all that is free of discrimination and harassment.  Actions, words, jokes, or comments based on an individual’s sex, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or any other legally protected characteristic will not be tolerated.  If an employee believes he/she has been the victim of harassment, or knows of another employee who has, the employee should report it immediately to his/her Supervisor.  Any supervisor who becomes aware of possible harassment should promptly advise the President of the Board of Trustees who will handle the matter in a timely and confidential manner.  Employees can raise concerns and make reports without fear of reprisal.
